Centenary village: UniAbuja lecturers beg FCT minister for compensation

The chairperson of the Unity Academic Multipurpose Co-operative Society, of the University of Abuja, Mrs. Munirat O. Yusuf-Habeeb, has appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, to as a matter of urgency give them another land as compensation for theirs at Goza, along Airport road now converted to centenary village by the government.

Mrs. Yusuf-Habeeb, who made the appeal at the weekend, during the 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), of the association, in Gwagwalada, however expressed hope that the minister would hearken to their cry for help, and enable them acquire another land.

She noted that the leadership of the society has collected the necessary documents regarding to the application for compensation from the government.

She said called on the members to allow the committee set-up by the executives of the Society to continue to pursue the land compensation for the interest of the members.

She said that the plans are in top gear by the executives of the association to recover the sum of N35 million from the developer on the said land.

According to her, leadership of the Society would continue taking the members along in the scheme of things.

While calling for the co-operation of the officials at all times, she advised the members of the association to adopt financial management plans on how to spend their monthly salaries, to avoid financial crisis in their families.

Commenting on her achievements, Habeeb disclosed that the leadership of the association was able to sponsor the members to attend seminars and workshops in abroad as well as cater for the health needs of the members among other things.
