A nongovernmental Organisation known as Center for Development and Social Justice, CEDASJ, as part of its community outreach project, constructed a hand pump bore hole to Mbayom council ward, Gwer local government area of Benue State.
Presenting the bore hole to the community, the Managing Director of the organisation, Gideon Madugu explained that the idea to site the bore-hole is to ease the perennial water scarcity in the community, adding that it is meant to trigger 24 communities in the area using Community Led Total Sanitation ( CLTS) approach.
Madugu further said the construction of the bore-hole is to appreciate Tse-Igba community for their steadfastness to attain open defecation free, averring that the site of the bore- hole will also encourage other communities across the state to replicate what the Igba community has done.
Chair person, Benue Non-Governmental Organizations Network, BENGONET Rachel Ityonzughul who commended CEDASJ for the humanitarian work, also implored other organizations to borrow a leaf so as to reduce the dangers and health hazard face by the rural populace as regard to portable water.
Responding the District Head of Mbayom, Chief Joe Nyam commended the NGO for the ODF project which he said has helped in no small measures in stemming the outbreak of diseases in the area.
