Core Delta Youth (CDY) has decried an attempt to rubbish the hard-earned reputation of a Senior Civil Servant, Sir Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje, Permanent Secretary, Delta State Government House and Protocol.
In an emergency online meeting held on Tuesday, members of the group frowned at the use of the name of their group by one Ekpokpobe Iteveh Okeoghene to tarnish the reputation of individuals because of his access to the media.
While assuring that the group was committed to good governance, they noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has provided a style of governance that is admired and accepted by the people.
Coordinator of the group, Uyero Junior Erarawewho during the meeting, stated that even a blind man could see the people-oriented activities of Governor Okowa administration that cannot be faulted.
He pointed out that the write up by Iteveh lack substance and was done to attract attention of government and get patronage.
They urged the writer to stop further attack on Governor Okowa administration, particularly, Sir Ogidi-Gbegbaje.
“Its no longer a child’s play but a big insult and defamation of character. the major function of a permanent secretary is to sign and disburse and not buying and selling. This despicable act of this junior writer, is to gain popularity by cheap blackmail of the PS and Delta State Government”.
Uyero also said before the first report released by the group, it was actually the same Iteveh who called him to confirm if that VVIP Guest House issue was true and when his response was no, he tried speaking in terms of being settled by the PS so as not to publish the report instead of doing proper investigation and letting it go, he went ahead to publish it.
“The way this matter is now, I want to believe that this unqualified writer is part of a conspiracy to dent the image of this government most especially tackling an innocent man on and on due to the fact that he wants to be settled. This is barbaric and out of place, this I know is against the ethics of journalism and i believe the authority should look into this and he should be sanctioned. The use of the pen in the hands of journalist is to dish out the right information for the good of the society rather than than extorting people thereby causing mayhem”.
