The National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has commended Governor Nasir El-Rufai and other 15 governors for their commitment towards resolving the crisis between farmers and pastoralists in the country, by accepting the Federal government initiative on cattle colony.
Bodejo, who gave the commendation while addressing newsmen in Abuja over the weekend, said the association is happy to embrace the cattle colony because they want peace to reign in Nigeria.
He said, “The plan to create 5,000 hectares of land to be used as cattle colonies in some states is a welcome idea.
“The proposed colony will serve as an enduring solution to the lingering Fulani herders/Farmers crisis and to improve the economy situation of the country.
“And so as such, we are in support of the Federal government’s agenda to create the cattle colonies.
“We called on Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom to also buy the idea, rather than the grazing law he enacted, it would be the best for him and controversy would be over.”
However, the Fulani leader dismissed as false insinuations that the Present Muhammadu Buhari’s-led federal government is grabbing land, so as to hand over to the Fulanis.
He said “only desperate politicians are opposed to the creation of cattle colony for Fulani pastoralists, because the issues have been politicized.
Also, Bodejo urged Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris to establish the truth as to who is attacking who and at the close of the day, prosecute whoever is found guilty, as according to him, Fulanis were peace-loving.
