In the spirit of Christmas, the Saint Theresa Catholic Church Yola has organised a special Xmas mass for the Christian inmates in Yola prison, Adamawa state.
Archbishop of the Church, Rev. Stephen Dami Mamza, said the visit was to accord the 674 inmates in the prison a sense of belonging despite their present predicament as prisoners to participate in the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Mamza who is also CAN chairman in the state, offered holy mass with the inmates, urged them to prepare for challenges ahead after their jail terms.
He urged other religious bodies, not to relent in efforts to bring succour to less privileged and be in the vanguard of promoting love especially the vulnerable.
“The little you have, please let us not forget prisoners, they are human beings.
“Let us also, remember that not everybody in the prison are guilty, we should also extend out hands of love to them in order to change and improve their wellbeing during and after jail terms.
“We are all brothers and sisters and must support each other”. Mamza added.
Receiving the items, Deputy Comptroller Prison (DCP), Dahiru Abdullahi, thanked the leadership of the church for identifying with the inmates.
He assured that the food packages and drinks would be judiciously doled out among the inmates in the prison.
