Candido, others urge Gwandara youths to rekindle their culture

Gwandara indigenes in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and environs were charged to rekindle the rich culture of the tribe by the executive chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon Abdullah Adamu (Candido) and others.
Gwandara indigenes last Sunday celebrated their age long culture in Junior Secondary School in Idu-Koro, being one of their ancestral homes in FCT.
Prominent among those who spoke to journalists at the event were the District Head of Idu, HRH Ishiaku Ibrahim; the Village Head, Chief Muhammad Bawa, the Sarkin Yaki Idu, Chief Chinedu Ike and; the Chairman ot AMAC himself.
In a different interview at the event, they similarly called on the youth to not treat their culture with neglect, by reminding them that the beginning of going into extinction of any tribe is the neglect of its culture. They said that the Gwandara people are rich in culture, custom and tradition, which according to them is better than that of other tribes, even as they added that the Gwandara culture is not repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience in the country.
“We are rich in culture and should the youths treat our culture with neglect, this ethnic group will be forgotten because the neglect of culture of any tribe is the beginning of its going into extinction. Our culture is not repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience. Culture promotes unity and helps interacting one’s orgin. Don’t let it die,” they charged their youths.
However, in the competition that followed, Jubril Huseini AKA, H-Dande Giji Tukupi from Idu-Koro; Huseini Abubakar, B – Fine, Gwagwa and; Mohammed Zahradeen, Atajiri Idu, Idu-Koro got first, second and third position in cultural outfit respectively.
