Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has expressed serious concern over ‘little or no opposition’ in the Council.
Candido, who stated this while addressing about 13 leaders of different political parties in his office, recently tasked them on constructive criticism against the filling party.
He however urged them to support all development initiatives of the council because it was the only council for the and all Nigerians.
“Opposition is very weak in AMAC. I challenge you to live up to your responsibility. This Area Council doesn’t belong to All Progressives Congress (APC) alone, and it does not belong to Candido.
“If you see something going wrong and you keep quite or you engage in unconstructive criticism, you are been lazy and are doing a dis-service to this council.
“This Area Council is for all of us, so let us join hands to salvage it. It was another party yesterday, today is APC, who knows what party will be here tomorrow.
“Wish us well because our success is yours so is our failure since the Council is also yours. That is why I make this clarion call to all of us, let’s join our hands together and move this Council forward,” he stressed.
While pointing out that the major challenge of the Council was that of funding, the AMAC Chairman revealed that his administration was the first to assemble all past Chairmen of the Council and seek support and guidance from them, adding that he was also the first to deem it fit to invite all political parties to seek their support to move AMAC to the next one.
He equally called on them to commend the Council if it was doing well in the governance.
