Canada 2015: Okon, Oparanozie express hope

The Head Coach of the Senior Women National team Edwin Okon has expressed confident on the abilities of the African champions to emerge tops in their group in the 2015 Women World cup holding in Canada.

 The Falcons of Nigeria were drawn alongside former champions USA, Sweden and Australia in Group D.

Okon who spoke from Ottawa , Canada after the draws said that his girls can not be intimidated by any of the teams in the group “we are not afraid of any of teams in the group.

“We are not only hoping to qualify from the group, we are optimistic of topping the group”.

He said that their preparation for the tournament would begin immediately after the festivities, and promised that the lapses noticed during the last AWC in Namibia would be corrected before then.

Also speaking on the draws, striker Desire Oparanozie said that the Falcons would surely get something out of the group “we would get something out of the group. We would study all the teams can capitalize on their weak points to get our results”.

The best the Super Falcons has ever got in the tournament is the quarter final stage in 1999 in USA. The Falcons has represented Africa in all the editions of the tournaments scoring 15 goals conceeding 51 goals.
