Super Eagles Coach and CAF coach of the year award nominee, Gernot Rohr is expected to return to Nigeria from holidays on Saturday ahead of the CAF Awards holding on January 4 in Accra, Ghana.
Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye disclosed this Tuesday evening, adding that the Franco-German coach will travel from his base to Nigeria before moving to Accra, Ghana for the CF awards ceremony.
According to Ibitoye, Rohr’s return to Nigeria will also afford him the opportunity to see the progress made so far by the home-based Super Eagles who are in camp in Abuja preparing for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) billed to hold in Morocco next year.
“We are expecting Coach Rohr on Saturday because he is coming for the CAF Awards, and he will fly straight to Nigeria before moving to Ghana for the event”, Ibitoye was quoted.
“That will also give him the opportunity to see the progress the Home Eagles have made so far ahead of the CHAN tournament holding in Morocco. So we are all waiting for him to arrive on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, the final three-man shortlist for the 2017 CAF African Footballer of the Year includes Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Nigeria international and Chelsea star Victor Moses could not make the final three.
