The accused, who resides at Ungwan Gwari in Mararaba, is facing a one-count charge of theft for which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, PC Friday Adaji, told the court that the accused allegedly stole the phone from PC Janet Ikoh, on March 19.
Adaji said that Ikoh, attached to ‘A’ Division Police Station, Mararaba, was on her way from Masaka to Mararaba when the incident occurred.
“On reaching Aso Junction, the accused snatched her Techno mobile phone valued at N10,000 from the policewoman.
“The accused ran away to Ungwan Gwari area but was later arrested and brought to the police station,” he said.
Adaji also said that the offence contravened section 288 of the Penal code.
If convicted on the charge, the accused is liable to seven years in prison.
The presiding Judge, Mr. Albert Maga, ordered that the accused should be remanded in Keffi Prison.
Maga adjourned the case to March 27 for ruling on the accused bail application. (NAN)
