From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed not to compromise in his fight against corruption, assuring that he will do his best to provide adequate security to ensure free and fair election.
The President who made the pledge yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State capital during the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential campaign rally, maintained that the fight against corruption has been the most difficult challenge of administration.
He however, promised to remain steadfast in recovering looted funds from corrupt Nigerians, adding that such funds will be used to provide infrastructure like roads and rail for the people.
The President noted the relative peaceful atmosphere prevailing in Benue, stating that Boko Haram have been sacked from the 17 local government areas they occupied in Borno.
On the economy, Buhari stressed that his government has banned importation of foreign goods while promoting large scale production of local rice.
“I am convinced that you believe in what we are doing a d we support to do more.
APC National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomole accused Governor Samuel Ortom of squandering over 10 billion meant for payment of salaries, adding too that he diverted bailout funds.
“Ortom and his family are the only ones enjoying government house while other indigene are wallowing in poverty. We should have leaders who create ideas to better the lot of their people not those who lament. But I am not here to lament the failure of this government but to give you hope and that person is Emmanuel Jime who will pay salaries up to date”,Oshiomole said.
Leader of Benue APC and Senator representing Benue North West District Sen. George Akume lauded President Buhari for rescuing the nation from the hands of corrupt individuals who were reckless and purposeless.
“It took a Buhari to unearth stolen money and many are running away from their banks.
“Buhari had all the opportunities as governor of North eastern state, Minister of Petroleum and Head of State to enrich himself but he does not have a n year oil well. But we have a Governor in North Central State is richer than you and has only been in power for three (3) and half years. We ha e managed the economy well. You are a lover of humanity. We have a long relationship ship with Fulanis. I was Governor for 8 years and we never had any issues with them. We value relationship. People should not hide under the guise of purposelessness, senselessness and foolishness to militarize the State. We are fully prepared for election and we want security agencies to do our election”, Akume passionately appealed.
Plateau State Governor Solomon Lalong lauded the President for embarking on several projects in the North Central.
He took a swipe on his Benue counterpart Samuel Ortom for his failure to pay salaries and embark on developmental projects while hiding under the clout of herders/farmers clashes for been responsible for this.
He noted the restoration of peace in Benue and Plateau States.
“We will use our brooms and sweep Benue clean and bring in Jime to take the State to the next level or else Benue will remain at the worst level. If we gave you 70% in 2015,we will improve and give you 80%,” Lalong assured.
