The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that President Mohammadu Buhari has the capacity to change the face of Nigeria and restore peace in the troubled state of Benue in the north central.
Speaking in a press conference with journalists in Abuja, the chairman of the party, Victor Ike Oye, said the government should not allow his government to become distracted by the antics of those who want to deter the government.
The APGA chairman who reminded the President that he has mighty loans on his shoulders, however called on the citizens of the country to pray for the President, pointing out that leadership is not a tea party, but a serious government that required determination.
“We call on President Mohammadu Buhari to remain focused; he should not be distracted, because he has a mighty load upon his shoulders. He has every reason to make the people of Nigeria proud.
“They gave him massive support in 2015 that brought him into office, so he owes Nigerians enormous responsibility to ensure that he governs with fear of God and love of the people, and with Justice and equity.
“APGA knows that he has the capacity to change the face of this country, he has started very well despite the challenges he is facing. My prayer is that God will give him with the desired wisdom to carry on with the sustainable development that his government is pursuing”, he said.
The party further called on the President to ensure adequate security of lives and property across the country, adding that what is happening today in Benue is a threat to democracy and national security.
“I expect him to take the bull by the horns and ensure that security is restored in Benue state and also across the country. No nation survives a state of insecurity and brigandage”, the said.
Speaking further, APGA expressed confident that President Buhari has the capacity to restore law and order in Benue and across the country, appealing to all Nigerians to remain calm and supportive of the government at all levels.
He added that without a stable environment, there is no way the government can deliver on its mandate, but urged the government to reciprocate the wonderful support by ensuring that there equity, Justice and love in distribution of resources among Nigerians.
“The government should be focused and be distracted by the antics of the people that wants to deter it”, he said.
The APGA chairman also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the elections conducted recently in Anambra state, saying that it witnessed massive difference from the previous ones.
“Electoral materials arrived on time, security was adequate, INEC officials co-operated, the machine worked, so we expect that in 2019 elections, the situation will be better, so we commend the INEC chairman for a job well done.
“He has a date with history and destiny, if he continues this way and produces the best Presidential election result his name will be written in gold. I urge him not to pander to any emotionality or any threat, nobody will hurt him, and God will be with him. If he remains justifiable, focused, definitely he will achieve unprecedented result in 2019 elections”, Oye said.
