Borno State First lady, founder of Support for Widows, Orphans and Tsangaya Foundation, (SWOT), Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, has distributed some bags of rice and cartons of Sphaghetti, gallon of palm/vegetable oil, Semovita, sets of wrapper and cash donation of N5,000 to each of the 200 Christian widows in Maiduguri.
Distributing the items yesterday at the Multipurpose Hall, Government House, Nana said that the gifts was to support the Christian widows and their families celebrate the festive season with ease.
Nana who was represented by the Commissioner Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajja Fanta Baba Shehu said, the distribution which has been an annual event is a way of translating into action the aims and objective of her pet project, tagged ‘SWOT’ Foundation in the state.
The First lady said “as a foundation, we don’t have any political, religious or gender inclination, but to serve humanity. Reaching out to the needy at the time of need is considered the most useful and appropriate, since we all know that we live by what we get, we believe we will make live better by what we give”.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairperson of Borno State Christian Widows Association (BSCWAS), Madam Shuwa Abba thanked Hajiya Nana for identifying with the Christian community at every festive period.
