French Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux have confirmed they are keen on a move to sign Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud.
If the deal materializes, this might hamper the progress of promising striker Josh Maja who joined the club in the January transfer window.
Giroud is an experienced campaigner and his arrival might mean Maja’s bid for more game time becomes a tall order.
Maja’s decision to leave Sunderland to join Bordeaux was met with a lot of intrigues.
After a goal-laden first half of the season on Wearside, Maja informed Sunderland that he wanted to leave the club.
A whole host of Premier League and Championship clubs were sniffing around while Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers were both thought to hold an interest.
Now four months into his stay at Le Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, Maja has scored just one goal in the Ligue 1 and has found himself in and out of the side.
The player of Nigerian descent signed for Bordeaux on Saturday 26th January 2019.
