The Bank of Industry (BoI) has urged local entrepreneurs to patronise goods made by Nigerian research centres to create jobs, at the same time help fund the institutions for further research in contribution to nation building.
The Managing Director of the bank, Rasheed Olaoluwa, made the appeal during a visit to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) said that the key objective was to promote active linkage between centres like NASENI and Bank of Industry (BoI) customers.
He said, “The whole idea is to encourage BoI customers patronize products developed by research institutes. My visit to all this institutions are deliberate, I want to know the prototypes available.
“Again, for every unit of product sold, NASENI gets some percentage. That way they can generate revenues to run the organization. Technology is very important in all sectors of the economy. The organisations and people at the forefront of technology run the world. “With the way NASENI is going, it is obvious that we are not far from meeting up with other developed nations, all we need do is recognising what we have, develop them and patronize them.
“BoI is fully prepared to support Small and Medium Enterprise agencies that would want to adopt some of the technologies NASENI already has”.
The Executive Vice-Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, NASENI, Mohammed Haruna lamented that patronage of products in the research institute had been limited, stating that partnership with BoI was a good idea.
