The police have arraigned a business woman, Ninah Adesina, at a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Francis Tanko, told the court that Joshua Okorongu, of Garki and Chidi Egbe, of Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, complained against the accused at the Wuse Police Station on April 15.

Tanko said the accused collected a laptop computer in September 2013 valued N80, 000 from Egbe to sell and remit the money in three weeks.

“The accused also collected N40,000 from Okorongu under the pretext that he was supplying laptop computer to him.

“The accused did not remit the money and did not supply any computer to the person she collected part payment from. He just absconded,’’ he said.

Tanko said the offence contravened the provisions of section 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The accused faces a term of imprisonment which may extend to 10 years with fine or both.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

The prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a date to open his case against the accused due to the plea.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ubani, granted the accused bail in the sum of N140,000 and a surety in like sum.

Ubani said the surety must be someone with reliable source of livelihood and must show it by means of an identity card.

He also said the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court .

He adjourned the case to July 21 for hearing proper (NAN)
