The Management of Nigeria Natural Development Agency (NNMDA) has kicked- off a three –day bio entrepreneurship training workshop for herbal raw materials sellers as well as traditional medicine practitioners , hell at the 7th option park on Monday in Abuja.
In an interview at the opening ceremony, the head of Research Policy and Planning, Dr Salihu Timothy who represented the Director- General/ Chief Executive at the occasion, Dr Sam Etatuvie , said the mandate of the agency was to help in developing Nigerian indigenous medicine(s).
He said the workshop aimed at training the herbal hawkers as well as traditional medicine practitioners on the need to package their products properly to attract selling.
He advised the traditional medicine practitioners to deem it necessary to plant medicinal plants in order to make more money for themselves, and warned them against destroying medicinal plants.
Etatuvie, however, called on the associations of traditional medicine practitioners to always fight quackeries within their associations.
On his part, the National President of NANTMP, Dr Shaba Maikudi, appealed to participates to take the advantage of the workshop to update their knowledge.
Maikudi thanked the authorities of NNMDA for the steps being taken to organise the workshop for the stake holders in the traditional medicine(s).
