From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida has suspended three leaders of the Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic ( ASUP) for gross misconduct, incitement and unauthorized publication of official information among others.
The Rector of the Institution, Dr Abubakar Abdul-Dzukogi, disclosed this yesterday while speaking to journalists in Bida in Niger state, saying that the union leaders were circulating fake, unsubstantiated and malicious story about the real reasons why they were suspended.
According to Dzukogi, “In a circulated message to our dynamic comrades, the ASUP-BD PRO in his usual characteristics, lied that the trio of the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Asst Sec were suspended for making inquiries on our behalf on why there are no drugs in the Clinic.
“Nothing could be farther from truth than this. First, what is inquiry? Online dictionary defines it as an *act of asking for information.
“’So, did the persons so mentioned seek for any information on the subject matter? See what happened and be the Judge”, he stated.
Dzukogi also further noted that, an enquiry on the instant case can either be done through the management or through the Acting Medical Director, which was not done.
The Rector added “A look at the response to the query issued to the Ag. MD to this effect where he stated inter alia that, he had no knowledge of the visit, did not approve of any invasion of the clinic.
“And that he was not met in the office on the said date of visit exposes the lies as peddled by the PRO.
“Note that the action was carried out on a Saturday when it was clear the Ag. MD, Dr Ajare won’t be in the office except on an emergency.
“They overpowered the lady on duty and took shots of the official information. This is evident in the woman’s response to her query.
“Even at this, did they confront the management with whatever information obtained? The answer is No.”
The rector further stated that, on the contrary, the suspended leaders went ahead to publish the information on social media without authorisation alongside other falsehoods.
He told the suspended officials, “they should go and explain the rational behind their actions, apologise and seek for forgiveness or develop hard skin and bear their cross.”
