Benue political youth group urges INEC director to contest guber seat

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

A group known as Benue Youth across political parties and organization has expressed worry over the political dilemma and logjam in the state occasioned by zoning of the governorship seat.

The group at a joint press conference yesterday in Makurdi, maintained that as youth who are the engine room and beacon of hope for a better, meaningful and healthy society, they are saddled with a great responsibility and mandate to deliver to the governed by making and entrenching informed choice which is born out of critical perusal of antecedents of major stakeholders, their aspirations and its effects on the political, economic and social wellbeing.

They frowned at the logjam as well as the political gimmicks of unresolved zoning in the state, noting that the gimmick of zoning is turning into mediocrity where credibility is being sacrificed on the altar of manipulated and unpopular antics of zoning.

The youth groups averred that in resolving this impasse, they have discovered a man with rare leadership qualities, an administrator, people-oriented and selfless individual and technocrat in Engr.Emmanuel Akem who they believe can pilot the affairs of the state to El dorado.

“We hereby without sentiments, tribe or party affiliations call on Engr. Emmanuel Akem to please without delay come out on any political platform for governor of Benue State come 2015 as the people are resolute, ready and willing to support him”, the group urged.

It should be noted that Engr. Akem is a director at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
