Over two hundred and fifty unemployed youths and women have been trained in different vocational skills by the National Directorate of Employment, NDE in Benue State.
This is just as another fifty are undergoing training in shoe making, fashion/designing, hair dressing and wielding in Buruku local government area for a period of three months.
State coordinator, NDE ,Engr. Cheen Chia explained that in order to consolidate and expand its scope of program delivery, the directorate established skill acquisition centers in all the states of the federation including Benue State, intimating that 50 youths underwent training in Agricultural Skill training center under the Rural Employment Program, REP at Otobi-Akpa, Otukpo local government areas.
Engr. Chia also, said that 50 youths and women were trained under the environmental beautification training Scheme, EBTS in three(3)skills namely hand landscaping, soft landscaping and Plaster of Paris, adding that 50 others graduated under the school on wheel in Ogbadibo local government area.
He advised the trainees against absenteeism, warning that they stand to forfeit their Stipends if found guilty of this offence and other gross misconduct by the NDE Monitoring officers.
Head of Department, Vocational Skills Development Mrs. Hilda Lawani emphasized that the training aimed at enabling the trainees become wealth creators to reduce poverty and charged them to abide strictly to their instructors directives.
