Benicio Del Toro is joining Jamie Foxx in The Trap, a Southern revenge movie written and to be directed by Spring Breakers helmer Harmony Korine.
The script is a crime thriller centering on two childhood friends now in their mid-to-late 30s — one of whom is very successful and the other has spent the majority of his adult life in jail. On the eve of a big recognition for the successful man, the other is released from jail and determined to get even.
John Lesher and Charles-Marie Anthonioz are producing the film, which is slated to shoot early next year.
Foxx is gearing up for a big Christmas season, co-starring in New Line’s comedy Horrible Bosses 2, opening November 26, and top lining Sony’s update of Annie, which opens December 19. He’s repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.
