FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has commended the Nigerian Armed forces and other security agencies over their contributions to peace and security in the FCT.
Bello who spoke while welcoming the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Senior Course 41 Participants, from Jaji, Kaduna State on Monday, said the FCTA will continue to work with the military and other security agencies in the territory to build a capital city that will rank among the best cities through the provision of first-class infrastructure and service delivery.
The Minister, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Umar Gambo Jibril, said their visit coincided with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations, adding that the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes, both fallen and standing, who have given their life in service to the country will always be acknowledged.
He said a lot of efforts have been made towards the development of the FCT since the movement of the federal government from Lagos to Abuja in 1991, bringing the city into the rank of other new capitals like Brasilia, Canberra, among others.
“We would continue to convey our sincere delight to the Nigerian Armed Forces and, indeed other security agencies for their contributions to the peace and security of the FCT”, the Minister reiterated.
Earlier, the team leader, Major General A.O Folarinso said the study tour was to enable the course participants have on-the-spot study of live situations and how they affect the socio-economy of states. He added that at end of the tour, participants will make presentations of findings and recommendations.
He called on the Minister to make out time to be at the presentations, which, he assured would be of immerse value to FCTA.
The team leader also commended the Minister for the warm reception awarded to him and his team.
Highlight of the visit was a media presentation on the strides of the FCT as well as a lecture presentation by the Education Secretariat of the FCTA.
In a vote of thanks, one of the participants, Major Thompson Araki thanked the FCTA while describing the presentations as educative and good resource materials for the study they have embarked upon.
