The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to focus on being conversant with many entrepreneurial skills rather than expecting automatic jobs from government agencies after their service year.
Bello while speaking at the swearing in ceremony of the 2019 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko, said that learning of entrepreneurial skills will enable the graduates have something to fall back to after completing their service year.
“Make yourself conversant with as many entrepreneurial skills as possible during your stay at the orientation camp because there may be n9 automatic job for you after service.
“Take advantage of this period to that after your service year, you will have something to fall to before you get a blue collar job.” he stated.
Represented by the acting Head of Service, Alhaji Shuiabu Adamu who assured the Corps members of their safety in the state saying the security agencies are up and doing and ensure prompt interventions on any security challenges.
The Niger state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Funmilayo Ajayi said that a total of 1,243 corps members have been registered out of which 464 female and 779 male.
The Secretary to the Niger state Government (SSG), Alhaji Ahmed Matane who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim said the one year mandatory service year is a call of the Corps members to contribute their quota to the patriotic task of nation building.
