The Bauchi State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board is to train 100 intending Christian pilgrims that would go to Jerusalem from the state this year.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Daniel Shawulu who disclosed this yesterday while addressing newsmen in his office explained that the state has already commenced screening of intending pilgrims and the training workshop was scheduled for November 19.
Daniel said the intending pilgrims will be trained on how to perform pilgrimage, attitudes, tolerance, honesty and respect for one another.
According to him, about 50 persons traveled to the holy land last year from the state out of which 30 were sponsored by the state government.
He said that the Governor Mohammed Abubakar has since appointed the minority leader of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Honourable Markus Makama as the leader of the state’s team for the 2017 Christian pilgrimage.
Shawulu noted that the visitors to the holy land from Bauchi would be airlifted via Gombe international Airport calling all those who paid for the fare to complete the necessary formalities in time in order to avoid problems.
“We are optimistic that not less than 100 people will visit the holy land this year because churches are going to sponsor five pastors each in the state. Over 50 persons performed the pilgrimage last year from Bauchi”. He disclosed.
