Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has called on the state government to pay workers’ leave transport grants that wasn’t paid by the immediate past government and to take immediate action on the pending issues geared towards the welfare of the state workers.
The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Danjuma Saleh made the call while reacting to commitments by the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed on addressing the challenges facing the state.
Comrade Saleh said some of the issues that required urgent government attention include, payment of leave and transport grant, payment of gratuities, cost allowances for Civil Servants on in-service training and timely promotion among others.
He expressed optimism that the pending issues when addressed will motivate the beneficiaries to redouble efforts in the discharge of their assigned responsibilities.
The Chairman who applauded Governor Mohammed for the payment of outstanding salaries of workers on level 13 and above as inherited from the last administration, acknowledged his commitment towards improving the state civil service.
He assured the governor of the support and cooperation of the state council of NLC to his administration for the speedy development of the state and the welfare of the state civil servants.
