The Bauchi State Government has said that over N13b was expended on the construction of the airport project to boost internally generated revenue.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ishola Micheal Adeyemi made this known yesterday when he conducted journalists round the International Airport in Bauchi.
According to him, the airport was also to revitalise the tourism potentials in the state.
He said that the newly constructed Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport is to boost the internally generated revenue in the state.
“It said apart from boosting the economic activities in the state, the airport will bring investors to the state, thereby creating more employment opportunities.” He said Micheal said, “The newly constructed airport will also serve as an alternative cargo airport for kano state so that traders who desire to transact business in Bauchi, can do so without taking road transportation. This will ease their stress and make their travels comfortable”.
He said that termac of the airport has the capacity to contain seven boeing 747 air planes, adding that the aiport will not operate night flights.
Mr Ishola said that efforts by previous administrations to construct the airport prove abortive,but the administration of Isa Yuguda finally fulfilled the dream of Bauchi state owning an airport of international standard.
