Bauchi State Government has intensified efforts on verification exercise of teachers in order to flush out unqualified teachers and those with fake results in the state

The State Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu stated this yesterday in Bauchi at the end of Stakeholders meeting on education to re-examine the performance of students in the last West African Examinations Council, WAEC where many students failed the exams.

He said the minimum qualification of teaching is National Certificate of Education (NCE), but many diploma holders were employed as teachers and you cannot expect the best from them.

Aminu said the meeting identified factors that led to the failure of students in examinations despite huge investment by the government.

He added that the problems include nonchalant attitude of parents, non-commitment from the teachers, lack of adequate supervision, influx of over three million displaced persons to the state, and the problems of unqualified teachers that were employed in the Teaching profession in the state among others.

The commissioner said the meeting had sent its recommendations to the state governor seeking for his consent and approval in order to chart the way forward.
