Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has urged the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency ensure the full take off of Kafin Zaki Dam project in Bauchi State.
Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed gave the advice when he paid a sympathy visit to the victims of flood disaster in Zaki local government area of the state.
Senator Bala enjoined the communities involved in the project to resolve amicably, the misunderstanding among them that led to the delay in the takeoff of the project.
The Governor who assured to provide all the necessary support for the project, suggested for the use of technology in order to ensure all the affected communities get the required opportunities.
Senator Bala who said the flood has caused environmental and ecological agitations, appealed to National Emergency Management Agency to intervene towards finding lasting solution to environmental challenges facing the area.
According to him, the situation had confronted with sanitation problems as non-evacuation of drainages and culverts are some of the factors responsible for the flood.
Senator Bala therefore assured that, enumeration exercise will be conducted in all the flood areas across the state so as to support the victims.
The caretaker Commitee Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Yahuza Abdulkadir requested for the provision of adequate canoes as part of remedy for alleviating some of the needs of the affected victims.
The Governor who was on assessment visit to flood areas, visited, Darazo, Misau, Shira, Zaki, Jama’are and Ningi Local government areas.
