Bauchi: ‘Gida Dubu’ Estate shops for N45m to build Friday mosque, others

Residents of One Thousand Housing Estate in the Bauchi State capital otherwise known as ‘Gida Dubu ‘ have launched a N45 million appeal fund for the completion of a Friday mosque in the area, public toilets and women mosque.
The sum of N6.6 million was realized during the fund raising ceremony Chairman of the mosque committee, Alhaji Sa’adu Bawa explained that the thought of erecting the mosque started about six years ago considering the Muslims population in the estate and the long distance the residents trek to the nearest mosque every week to perform Friday prayers.
He said in view of that, a technical and fund raising committees were formed to develop a building plan with bill of quantities and identify sources of fund respectively.
“ An estimated sum of N57, 750, 000. 00 million was arrived at for the project by the committee at the onset. With the mobilization of the community, donations in form of blocks, cement, sand, gravels and cash from individuals with the highest of N1, 000, 000 million from late Dr Musa Muhammad Dambam of blessed memory, were received “. He noted.
Bawa said considering the importance attached to the project made it necessary for the mosque’s steering committee to extend invitation to government, corporate organizations and wealthy individuals to give assistance for the completion of the mosque.
He said that the sum of N45 million is currently needed to finish the mosque, women wing, Islamic school and public toilets in the estate.
Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar represented by his special adviser on religion and hajj matters Muhammad Tukur Muazu said the government gives special attention to places of worship ‘because they help in inculcating good moral values in the society and commended the community members for initiating the mosque project and promised to donate a sum of N5 million for the mosque work.
