The Bauchi state House of Assembly has passed a Bill to the state government over demolition of illegal structures across the state, as a measure to safeguard the Master Plan of the state.
The Bill was sponsored by the minority leader, Hon.Baba ABubakar Suleiman, Member representing Katagum constituency and adopted by the house yesterday at the plenary sitting in the house
The bill when assent by the executive according to the minority leader will revolutionize land administration to a test of time and in line with the best management and use of land in the state.
The minority leader added that this followed the recommendation of house committee on lands and housing for the establishment of Bauchi state Geographical information system agency which is to saddled with the responsibilities of land management.
“The committee has recommended for the demolition of all illegal building on public facilities and under high tension power facility in consideration of the dangers pose on public interest” said Suleiman
The law-maker maintained that the committee has warn members of the public to remove illegal structures erected in form of container shops or other structures which is not approved by the government.
The house according to Suleiman will direct the state development Board to embark on operation show your building plan throughout the declared planning areas which 60 days will be given to offenders as a grace to vacate or face the wrath of government.
Presiding over the bill, the Deputy speaker of the house Hon. Dr. Sani Abubakar Dumba, member representing Dass constituency had said, the bill will curb the negative tendencies of the increasing population in the state and the quest for land and shelter among people.
