From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi

All Progressives Party Congress (APC) support groups in Bauchi State have appealed to the National Working Committee of the party to cancel the result of the governorship primary election held in the state in the best interest of justice, fairness and harmony.

Speaking on behalf of the groups, Adamu Danfulani and Shehu Dauda Mohammed stated this when they led hundred of their supporters yesterday to a press conference in Bauchi, alleging that ” as a result of irregularities and negligence of the APC State Executives to comply with the guidelines of the party primaries , the election was not free and fair.”

According to him, part of the irregularities was the inability of the electoral committee to provide the aspirants with the list of eligible delegates, and it’s in ability to allow all the delegates to come to the election venue with their membership card for identification.

He said there was serious over voting, a total of 2854 were registered before the commencement of the election 2945 votes were cast, 30 votes were invalid which gave 91 votes over, despite desperate attempts by the chairman of the election committee to reduce the over voting to stand at 41 and because of that all agents of the aspirants refused to sign the result.

Mohammed said since when the disputed result was announced there was serious political turmoil in the state and unless the NWC investigate and ensure justice and fairness, the APC will lose Bauchi in 2015.
