Bauchi: 42 suspects in court for extra judicial killings

The Bauchi State Police command has charged 42 suspected members of the dreaded cult , Babeli group who have been terrorising residents of the state.
The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Kamal Abubakar who stated yesterday at a press conference at the Police Headquarters Bauchi, said that there were reported cases of extra-judicial killings of innocent civilians, most especially nomadic Fulani at Ganjuwa, Warji, Ningi and Darazo local government area of the state.
The PPRO said that all the 42 suspects have been charged to court, out of which 7 have been convicted while 35 others are awaiting trial.
In a related development, DSP Abubakar said that the command on the 4th of November 2017, also arrested 3 suspected rapists who abducted one Hauwa Suleiman, 20 years of Nupawa Ward in Bauchi at about 2200hrs, while on her way back from work.
He said the suspects who were on a motorcycle, took the victim to an uncompleted building along old airport road, robbed her of her Gionee handset and her bag containing the sum of N8, 000 and other valuable items and raped her repeatedly.
The PPRO who gave the names of the suspects as Abbas Usman(Gang leader), 18 years, Gidado Mohammed, 18 years and Shamsudden Adamu 18 years, said that the exhibits recovered from the suspects include two sharp cutlasses, two sharp knives and charms.
