There are strong indications that Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar may continue in office beyond 2019.
This followed a statement from the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Mahmood Yayale that he is no longer interested to contest for the governorship position in the State.
According to DAILY POST report, Yayale reveals this in a short remark on the occasion of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors’ annual general conference held at the multipurpose hall in Bauchi on Tuesday
”I don’t think I have the interest to contest for governorship again especially in 2019 election because my brother, Governor Abubakar is there” said Yayale
He added that the essence of government is to ensure effective development, as such the governor has the capacity to carry on.
“I declined to contest governorship in 2007 when some stakeholders in Bauchi State required my service in that regard,” the firmer SGF added.
It could be recalled that Yayale contested governorship slot against Abubakar in 2015 elections and lost to Hon Jatau during the primary election.
