Yet to be identified bandits yesterday stormed five villages in Igabi local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing over fifty persons.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammed Jalige confirmed this while speaking to the media in kaduna yesterday.
According to him the bandits invaded the five villages namely
Hashimawa , Marina,Kerawa Unguwan Musa and Zariyawa
between the hours of 6: 00 am and 8: 00 am of Sunday morning.
ASP Jalige said the police has launched manhunt for the fleeing bandits. He assured that security has already been beefed up and the perpetrators will soon be brought to book.
However Kaduna state Governor, Malam Nadir Elrufai has reiterated that the state Government have a zero tolerance to banditry.
The governor who visited the scene of the yesterday attack in company of the heads of security apparatus in the state said kaduna state neither gives amnesty nor negotiate with bandits.
“And we have ask the security agency to just wipe them out and we will not rest until the bandit are completely wiped out
“It is our duty to wipe them until we send them to their Maker, the security agencies are taking the war to the forest and we are eliminating them “, he said
The governor explained that shortly after the bandits start the attack, the security agents responded both on ground by air and wiped out the bandits.
Elrufai stressed, many people were killed during the attack which includes loss of lives and property
“The security are doing the best they can but they find it difficult to get remote area in good time due to poor access road while the native also find it difficult to get to security due to poor GSM network
“But I am grateful to Air force, Army, police, DSS for always being prompt, it would have been worse if not for the security prompt intervention they would have wiped out the entire villages ,but people are still here
“I also come to apologize for failure to protect you fully ,we are doing our best to minimize such attacks and we are hoping that this banditry issue will be addressed because security are on ground to manage the situation
The governor prayed for the soul of the departed adding that, SEMA was also on ground to provide relief materials for the victims.
