In a press statement by the Director General Press affairs, Mallam Yusuf Idris, the suspension of the powerful emir and the district head followed incessant complains lodged by members of numerous communities ravaged by merciless attacks launched by bandits, who have suffered kidnappings and cattle rustling.
“The suspension was as a result of Series of complaints from the communities over their alleged involvement in armed banditry activities who have been killing, kidnapping and maiming different communities in the state”.
He said the traditional rulers will remain suspended until the outcome of the investigation panel and “the panel will soon be set up by the state government”.
The statement added that the Emir has been directed to hand over all his official vehicles and other government properties in his possession to the Senior District head with immediate effect while the District head of Kanoma is to hand over same to the most senior village head in the community.
It would be recalled, armed bandits had invaded Rayau village under Kanoma district last Tuesday killing many people as they have set numerous houses, shops and parked vehicles ablaze as well.
