Former Governor of Sokoto state and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has expressed his sadness over the news of the death of Malam Bello Gusau, Chairman of the Sokoto state Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ).
In a statement, signed by his media aide, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi stated that the former governor received the news of the death away in Makkah, where he is observing his Umrah lesser Hajj.
According to the statement: “Late Bello Gusau lived a well-spent life of peace, hard work, commitment to duty and professional display of journalistic career; he understood his job and relationship with people in the best way.”
“He exhibited high level of quality professionalism on his relationship with different group of people through jovial and commitment to duty at all the time. He was a politician in journalism profession, due to his simplicity and openness all, said Bafarawa,” it stated.
He further described his death as a great loss to journalism profession in Sokoto state and the nation in general.
He urged other colleagues to emulate his simplicity and professional way of tackling issues and discharge of duty.
Bafarawa also condoled his family, management of Tribune newspaper and the entire working colleagues over this great loss.
He prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant his soul with eternal rest and give the family fortitude to bear the loss.
