Andy Murray made short work of local hope Marinko Matosevic on the hottest day so far at this year’s Australian Open.
The sixth seed won their second-round contest 6-1 6-3 6-2 in one hour and 42 minutes as the temperature broke 30C.
The Briton, 27, took his record against Australians to 10-0 and will play Portugal’s Joao Sousa in the last 32.
As expected, there was plenty of support for Melbourne’s Matosevic on Margaret Court Arena, with his friends and supporters shouting down the Murray fans courtside.
The contest off court was not quite matched on it, as Murray came out timing the ball beautifully and firing down some heavy serves.
Murray would end the match with just 12 unforced errors to 49 from his opponent, a clear indication of how sharp he remained throughout.
The former Wimbledon champion swept into a 5-0 lead in just 14 minutes and saw out the set soon after, with just one error and one point against serve to his name.
