AUN Yola Cooperative Society upgrades laboratory at GDSS Damare

The Community Cooperative Society of the American University of Nigeria,AUN Yola has upgraded a science laboratory with modern facilities at Government Day Secondary School Damare in Adamawa state.
Making the presentation of the procured items to the school authority weekend ,President of the Society, Professor Abubakar Abba Tahir said as part of the society’s social cooperate responsibility, two day secondary schools were pencilled for intervention this out going year(2017) where GDSS Damare happened to be one among the beneficiaries.
Represented at the occasion by the Assistant Secretary of the Society, Mr.Calvin Eliphas ,Professor Tahir stated that it was a culture of the society at the end of every year to set aside certain percentage out of its dividend to assist where it deems fit.
Mr.Eliphas explained that when the Damare secondary school Authorities were contacted on area assistance was most needed,they opted for re-equipping of their science laboratory which the society obliged by procurement of the laboratory experiments.
He maintained that the students and the teachers will enjoy the services of the equipments provided with a view to catch up with the remaining science school in the development of science education in our schools.
Similarly in his keynote speech, the cooperative’s social welfare committee chairman Mr. Benjamin Musa charged the teachers and students of the school to guard and use the equipments judiciously pledging that more assistance will be given to the school.
Earlier in their separate addresses, Principal of the College, Mu’azu Nuhu Lamdo-Katsina and P.T.A chairman of the College, Mallam Garba Hamidu expressed delight over the support from the society noting that lack of equipments in the laboratory was a serious challenge to the school before the upgrading.
They both promised to ensure judicial use of the items provided so that it can a source of changing the fortunes of the students performance in science subjects.
