National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, has appealed to supporters of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to allow peace to reign over Wednesday attack on the opposition leader.
Oyegun, who paid a courtesy visit on Cardinal John Onaiyekan yesterday in Abuja, told journalists shortly after the meeting that his party has expressed sympathy to families and relations of those affected by the bomb blast and pray that God will speedily heel the injured.
“Why would anyone want to target Buhari and need why Boko Haram.
He said the party has no doubt that Wednesday’s bomb blast was an assassination attempt on Buhari.
“The Benin people say: if you are just, you will not die an evil death; Buhari is one of the most upright human being we have in this country and God has not destined an evil death for him, no matter the machinations of the people in government today who seem to be have been taken over by irrational thoughts.
“All we want to say is that whatever you the government think, whatever the apologist think, they the ones who controls the security apparatus. The Federal Government has spent about $20 billion on supposedly security infrastructure. Today, there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that we are on top of the struggle against Boko Haram. So, whose finger is in this pie? I think it is very obvious and I should leave it to the public to draw the necessary conclusions.” He said.
