Atiku meets IBB behind closed doors in Minna

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has yesterday paid a visit to former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his Hill-top residence in Minna the Niger State capital.
Atiku arrived at the Minna airport drove straight to IBB’s hill top mansion around 12:35pm and left 3:26pm to the airport for his return.
It was reliably gathered that the meeting, which lasted over 3 hours, may not be unconnected with his presidential ambition which has started gaining momentum.
However, the former Vice President (VP) after the meeting shunned supporters and Journalists who were curiously waiting at the uphill to speak with him as they were denied access to him.
Though an insider source told our Correspondent that Atiku’s visit was a private one, the entrance gate of IBB’s mansion was turned to a mini political carnival as his Niger State supporters and other political jobbers laying siege at the gate.
The supporters, who had various placards with inscriptions calling for Atiku’s emergence, were prevented from gaining entrance to the uphill mansion . The supporters who have waited for over two hours were disenchanted when Atiku and his over 15 convoy vehicle zoomed off straight to the airport without acknowledging their presence.
One of the aggrieved supporters, Nabila Mohammed, said she was disappointed, adding that, “I am not happy at all, because we have been waiting here for the past 4 hours. He could not even wave at us.
“This is a man we have been fighting for his cause; he just came out and ignored us. He is not fair to us, but we will support him.”
Equally disappointed were journalists when a message came from IBB son, Mohammed Babangida asking them to leave, saying, “This visit is a private one; and, therefore, he cannot talk to journalists.”
Earlier, Media Assistant to Atiku, Mr. Paul Ibe called to inform the Correspondent Chapel of the State NUJ waiting for the PDP stalwart that the visit is a private one, saying, “Atiku will not speak to anyone.”
