The newly elected chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Bob Ukonu, has said the association will remain committed to medical profession in the interest of the citizens.
Ukonu, made this known in an interview with newsmen during a dinner organised by the association at the weekend, in Gwagwalada.
He said that the association would not hesitate to place medical profession in a better platform, to make sure that it moves to the next level.
He said his administration would deem it necessary to partner with other health workers such as nurses, pharmacists as well as laboratory scientists, so as to provide quality healthcare delivery for the people.
He called on the executive members to continue to co-operate with him to move the association forward, while assuring the staff of the hospital of taking them along in the scheme of things.
The MDCAN chairman therefore, said the association would continue to give top priority to the treatment of patients in the hospital in order to save lives.
On his part, the outgoing chairman of the association, Dr. Ilori Samson, urged new officials to always work towards the progress of the association.
Samson appealed to medical professionals irrespective of their status to work in harmony to move the health sector forward.
