The crisis rocking the Assemblies of God Church, AGC, Abuja District appears to be over as the suspended District Superintendent, Rev. Nicholas Anyanwu has called for peace after obtaining judgment from a Federal High Court in the FCT that pronounced him the authentic District Superintendent of the church.
Rev. Anyanwu who disclosed this to newsmen said that the High Court in Bwari Area Council had on July 5, 2018 delivered judgment in his favour thereby bringing to an end the four years fracas that has engulfed the church since 2013
Addressing a news conference in Abuja at the weekend, Rev Anyawu said he had forgiven his opponents whom he said are not in “right sense” of their minds and called for peace in the church.
“Today I am happy that the allegation that was brought against me by a group of pastors for embezzlement without evidence has ended. By the grace of God, on the 5th of July, the Lord gave me victory by vindicating me from the false allegations by those group of pastors who are looking for positions.
“I am a man of peace. Since the inception of this crisis, I have never gone to any church to destroy it. But my opponents are going to churches destroying them especially on Sundays. I remain peaceful because I am praying for peace in the country and the church.
“As a preacher, I will not initiate violence. I say no to violence in my life and I say yes to peace. I embrace peace. All the ones who have offended me, I have forgiven them because to err is human but to forgive is divine.
“If Christ forgives me my sins, who am I not to forgive them. I forgive them because they are not doing it with their right senses because anyone called by God, must preach peace and anyone who mobilises his members since the judgment was made to carry cutlass, bottles and guns, shows that the person is not a good preacher and teacher.
“Churches destroyed by my opponents include the Jabi Church, the Pastor’s house in Fish Life Camp where the roof was removed as well as doors and windows. The pastor’s wife was made naked. Wuse Church Zone 5 windows and doors were destroyed. Zuba Church was locked too,” he said
