The leadership of Nigerian Army in Abuja yesterday commissioned the International Livestock Market at Anagada community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
In his speech at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai who was represented by Major-General E.O Udoh, said the International Livestock Market project was initiated by Nigerian Army welfare by grantee.
He also pointed out that the livestock market was established in order to boost the welfare of army personnel.
He further said the livestock market project was aimed at providing jobs for Nigerian Army as well as Abuja residents, adding that the project would improve the socio- economic growth of the FCT.
He said the market would serve as community relation between the Army and Anagada community where the market was sited.
He therefore, told the gathering that the Nigerian Army would continue to tackle the security challenges facing the country.
Speaking earlier, the Minister of the FCT, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, who was represented by Mr. Udoh Samuel Ita, assured the Nigerian Army that his administration would do everything possible to provide an enabling environment in the market.
Minister said he would continue to support meaningful projects that would bring rapid development in the territory.
On his part, the Emir of Jiwa in AMAC, Alhaji Musa Idris, urged the army to take the residents of Anagada community along in terms of job opportunities.
