A gang of armed robbers at the weekend attacked the Deputy Speaker of Niger state House of Assembly, Engr. Abdulrahman Gambo Bala, in his residence in Minna, the Niger state capital, carting away some valuable belonging to him and some members of his family.
Findings revealed that the armed robbers, numbering about four, broke into the house, which is located at Abattoir road at night, through the back fence, waving dangerous weapons.
It was learnt that the armed robbers also seized the mobile telephone set of the Deputy Speaker and jewelries belonging to the members of his family.
A source told our reporter that the members of the gang, who operated for about two hours, also dispossessed the Deputy Speaker and his family members of some undisclosed amount of money.
As the armed robbers operated, it was learnt that the neighbors were not immediately aware, but that by the time they became aware, the armed robbers, who did not hurt anybody, had already left the house.
It was also gathered that the case was reported to GRA Divisional Police Office Minna, but no arrest has been made yet, a senior officer, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the incident.
