From Femi Oyelola Kaduna

The Secretary General of National Union of Textile and Garment Workers, Issa Aremu has described the demised of a former President of Court of Appeal and pioneer Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha, Akanbi, CFR, PCA (Rtd) as a total loss.
He said, he was more than a judicial titan, but indeed a senior comrade in his own right given his commitment to fairness and justice to all and his down to earth simplicity and accessibility.
He stated this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, the late Justice proudly identified with the masses and mass organizations often at shortest notice.
“ Many times my Lord had been an inspirational resource fellow at textile union’s educational programmes
“The achievements of Justice Mustapha as a statesman of integrity are well documented. Former president of Court of Appeal and pioneer Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha like late Nelson Mandela left by quitting when the ovation and integrity were unblemished.
“There are unquantifiable value adding activities of over a decade old Mustapha Akanbi Foundation (MAF). I bear witness that MAF is an enduring signature in the art of giving back to the community.
‘ It is commendable that President Muhammadu Buhari administration initiated the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme benefiting millions of the most vulnerable and poorest Nigerians paid N5,000 monthly stipends under the social investment scheme.
“However unknown to many what the Federal Government has commendably adopted as a state policy is what Justice Mustapha and his foundation had been doing in retirement in the past ten years.
“We hereby grief in solidarity with his Highness, Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and Chairman of Council of state traditional rulers, Governor and people of Kwara state for the eternal loss of Justice Mustapha Akanbi.
“May Almighty Allah shower the abundant blessings of the Month of Ramadan among which is Aljanat Firdaus!”
