The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has said late Archbishop Benson Idahosa predicted that the church in Nigeria will be under
siege, 31 years ago.
He said this at the 50th anniversary Celebrations of Church of God Mission International (CGMi) in Benin City, Edo State Capital.
The late Pentecostal preacher and founder of CGMi, also prophesied victory for thechurch before he died in March 1998.
Osinbajo who delivered a lecture titled: “The Christian, Politics and Nation Building,” at the event, challenged church leaders to use their
pulpit as the pillar and the ground of truth that hgs define trajectory of the world all over, in politics, social and economic
“Archbishop Benson Idahosa saw the future when he said the church will be under siege”, but “in every generation, we have seen persecutions,
but God gave us victory”.
He said the economic transformation on industgrialigzation and social welfare scheme in Europe and America derived its principle from the
mind of Christ irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliation.
“It is the pulpit that determines the greatness of any nation, adding that “The currency of commerce or business is trust”.
“The late Archbishop Benson Idahosa was a role model to many Christians and church founders within and outside the Country”.
He saluted the Christian virtues of Archbishop Margaret Idahosa, stressing that “she is a woman of history, destiny and the future.
He stated that the current overseer of the church has been “able to crack the glass ceiling in the gospel world that is dominated by male
preachers and whose messages have changed the destinies of many”.
In her welcome address, Archbishop Margaret Idahosa, in the past 20 years her husband who preached the gospel of Christ across 144
Countries, passed away before the mantle of leadership of the church fell on her, she “had no time to grief”.
She stated it was not easy for her to conquer gender imbalance and harmful traditional practices that inhibit the female folk from attaining breakthroughs in life.
