The Registrar of National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, NBAIS, Professor Shafi’ u Abdullahi has pledged the commitment of the board in ensuring quality learning in schools under its umbrella.
Abdullahi made the pledge yesterday in Katsina while speaking at the flag-off of the boards school quality assurance sensitization programme.
The registrar who was represented by the director administration of the board, Mrs. Hafsat Ahmed, noted that the agency was operating just like other sister national examination bodies in the country.
He noted that the board has no intention of interfering in teaching and learning in such schools, adding that their mandate was to ensure proper coverage of syllabus by students before taking examinations with the board.
Abdullahi further disclosed that the board has good understanding with states ministries of education where he said a desk was established in each ministry for proper coordination.
He said ‘ the board’ s examination was conducted and coordinated in collaboration with
state ministries of education for decades before the hatmonization of Higher Islamic School Certificate ( H.I.S) and Arabic Grade11 Certificate Examinationas one single and unified national examination in 1975’
The registrar therefore called on participants at the seminar to make good use of what they learn for the benefit of their students and improved teaching.
