Says Nigerians shouldn’t allow him to make choice for them

A House of Representatives member representing Arochukwu/ Ohafia Federal Constituency (PDP) Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole has asked the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo to apologize to Nigerians for misleading them during 2015 general elections.
The lawmaker strongly advised that Nigerians should not allow the former president to interfere or make a choice for them come 2019 general elections, stressing that, he should remember that PDP provided him the highest platform for 8 years, that he used to get to the leadership position today.
Nkole, who spoke on the burning issues threatening national unity and interest, in an exclusive interview with Peoples Daily, said 90 percent of the former President’s fresh party will consist of PDP and APC members.
“Obasanjo’s letter is his personal decision, as a former leader of the country; so I don’t want to join issues with him. But I think something is lacking; and he should apologize to Nigerians on what happened. This is the same way he misled Nigerians in 2015 to go against PDP. The same way he is advising us now. How many times will he keep doing that? It is high time for the young ones to come up. I don’t have anything to dispute his letter.
“It is apt, he has been writing letters; but the truth is that the people should not allow him to make their choice. That is my advice. PDP is still the viable option that can pull this country. It is not about a party, our political parties, no political colouration. Why don’t we look at the individuals, personalities that can really do the job?
“A fresh party? 90 percent of APC are PDP members. He was a president under the PDP. So you don’t burn the bridge you cross. Anyway, it is democracy and he is an elder statesman; but he should understand that if PDP is right or wrong. PDP provided him the highest platform for 8 years. He is a strong beneficiary of the PDP. The essence of that is that if you cannot improve on that, just leave it the way you met it. If you cannot act, don’t go to the extent of wanting to destroy it,” he added
According to him, “The young people should know that PDP provided a veritable platform that he used to get to the leader of where he is today.”
