From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) to make public its plans for the conduct of Local Government election it slated for November 2017 this year.
Recall that NSIEC had during the presentation of certificate of return to four councilors who won the bye-elections in June, promised to conduct free and fair elections into the 25 local government councils of the state in November, this year.
Alhaji Baba Aminu, the NSIEC chairman also assured political parties in the state of level playing ground during the election.
Consequently, the APGA state chairman, Malam Musa Aliyu Liman wondered why almost a month to the proposed date, the commission has not come out with tentative arrangement for the election.
“We as political party and indeed Nigerlites are kept in the dark over the arrangement for the election which is about a month away and our people are asking questions. SIEC has to break its silence on this all important election so that participating political parties could commence campaign and make preparations,” he stated.
On whether the party possesses enough structure to make impact during the proposed election, Malam Liman said “the general discontent over the apparent failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in the state”, has provided contending political parties the window to triumph.
