APC strongest party in Africa, says Ganduje

From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is the strongest party, not only in Nigeria but in the whole Africa.
Ganduje stated this at the grand rally to welcome defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Kwankwasiyya group, held at Sani Abacha stadium, yesterday.
According to him, APC had a strong support base that no party in Africa can flex with it in terms of supporters, noting that the party would show the world how powerful it is in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
He also boasted that APC is the only party in Kano State because it has the largest supporters in the most populous state, stating that, “our hope is not only to win elective positions, but to deliver the highest vote for President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Our party is the strongest, not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole. In Kano also, there is no party but APC, because we have the largest number of supporters.
“In Kano, APC is united. Even after the primary elections, we remain united. We are sure about 90% of our senators, 80% of our members of House of Representatives and 95% of members of our State Assembly, will return to their seats in 2019 elections,” he said.
In his speech, former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, who led the defectors to APC, said history had repeated itself.

According to him, in 2014, they had a reason to leave APC; and now they have a reason to come back to the party, pointing out that they have now become proudly members of the ruling party.
Shekarau pledged to support the party to succeed in all elective positions in 2019, expressing happiness that they had been recieved warmly by the state party leadership.
Speaking at the rally, the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole, said only corrupt politicians oppose Buhari administration. He said that majority of Nigerians understand and support the leadership style of Buhari, adding that the party remains hopeful that Buhari would win the next election in order to complete the good works he had started.
